Last Thursday, I had the handover for the house. We went through the house and checked off the things that were picked up in the last inspection. I was given the keys, a handover kit that included all the manuals for appliances and an esky with some gifts in it for building with GJ Gardner.

After I had finished work for the day I went home and loaded my car up with a load of stuff and took it over and put it in the Garage.

Over the weekend I spent a lot of time over in the new house. I installed the dishwasher and the washing machine. I also put together the table and chairs that I bought from Fantastic Furniture. I started putting things in the Kitchen cupboards. I also started to put up curtains.

Well after a few weeks away, the house is nearly finished.

When I got back I found that most of the things that were left to be done had been done. The tiler had been and put silicon around the edges of all the tiles and showers. The plumber had been and connected the sewer to the street and the water from the front tap to the house. The Gas connection had also been done.

This week, the plumbing fit off was completed on Monday and Tuesday. When I got to the house after work I managed to catch one of the tradies on site so I was able to go in and take a few photos of the progress they had made. Below are the photos I took.

This week started off slowly. There was not much done on either Monday or Tuesday. On Wednesday all the internal fittings were installed such as towel rails, toilet roll holders, wardrobe rails and internal door handles. Below are some photos.

This week, the concreter was back on Monday and poured the driveway and the pad for the hot water service. The tiler finished laying the all tiles except and the laundry splash back as the laundry tub needs to be put in place before he can do that. Below are some photos.

This week the tiler started his work. On Monday, he did the wet seal around the showers and bath and sorted out the tiles for all the different areas. I dropped in at lunchtime and had a quick look and took a couple of photos while I was there.

This week the tiler was supposed to be on site to do all the tiles. However, the tiler was unwell all week and was not able to get there. When I spoke to the site supervisor on Friday he said that he has rebooked him for next week.

On Tuesday, I was surprised to find that the Electrician had been in and installed all the lights, power points and TV Points. They had also installed the TV Antenna. The plumber had also been there and started the downpipes. Below are some photos of what I found.

Last week, the cabinet-maker was back on Monday and finished off the cabinets in the laundry, bathroom, ensuite and kitchen. When I got there after work he was still working. I had a quick look around and took a few photos and gave him a hand putting up the rangehood in the kitchen. The painters had also been in and done their prep work ready to begin painting the next day. Below are some photos of what I saw.

Yesterday, the cabinet-maker started putting the Kitchen together. When I got to the House after work at 5pm on a Friday, I found the cabinet-maker still there putting in the Kitchen. He was happy for me to have a wander around in the house whilst he finished off the few things he was doing.

While I was talking to him he mentioned that he does kitchens for many builders and if he had the money to build a house he would build with GJ Gardner as he has never seen an unhappy customer who had built with GJ Gardner. He says that he should be done installing all the cabinets by lunch time on Monday.
