Last weekend I decided that it was time to start looking at the different builders and maybe go and visit some of them. So I went into the Metricon Display Centre. I was given some info on the plans that would suit my needs and budget, and had an appointment setup for this afternoon to go through the prices in more detail.
Over the weekend and early this week I went through the information I had been given and choose a couple of plans which I liked best to go over in more detail and find out prices.
This afternoon I went back to the Metricon display to get a better idea of prices for the plans that I had picked out. We began by getting the base price of all the plans that I liked. I then choose a plan (Nova 17) that I liked and fitted into my budget and we proceeded to do a quote with any additional inclusions I had.
When we were finished the price was coming out a little over my budget. The sales consultant then went on to explain that they were in between promotions and that his supervisor had given him permission to use any promotion from the last six months. So he added carpet, tiles and an Auto opener for the garage door for nothing. He also gave me a $12,000 cash discount which had been October’s promotion. This brought this price back down to around my budget.
The only condition with the promotions he had added in was that I had to pay a deposit by Friday (13/01/2012), as this was when their new promotion is due to start.
I left the Metricon office not sure whether to pay the deposit by Friday or not. Since I have returned home I have decided that I probably won’t pay the deposit. I don’t want to feel rushed into anything and I want to research my options fully and not just go with the first builder I look into because they offer a $12,00 discount if I pay my deposit within 3 days.
